They drag them on the ground, turn them and turn them over in their little hands which are not always clean…. and often end up mouthing them. We often forget, but children's toys deserve a good cleaning from time to time to limit germs, microbes and bacteria!

Put plastic toys in the dishwasher

All hard plastic toys without electronic components can be placed in the dishwasher. We place the big ones at the bottom, the middle ones at the top, the smallest ones in a net. Then we launch a high temperature cycle and recover the perfectly clean and disinfected toys! Attention, we repeat: only for rigid plastics and without electronics, the only ones to withstand water and high temperatures.

Wash electronic and fragile toys by hand

If the toys of the little pieces contain batteries, screens, keys or any other sign of electronic component, no question of putting them in the dishwasher. As with all computer equipment, we rather use a microfiber cloth lightly impregnated with white vinegar or a disinfectant wipe. We start by turning off, disconnecting or removing the batteries, before wiping gently. Without electronic component, the toys are washed more frankly with a sponge and mild soap, in a basin of lukewarm water. And we take the time to rinse well before drying perfectly!

Put the fluff and fabrics in the washing machine

Another easy solution for cleaning children's toys. Plush and other cloth toys are also the ones that contain the most ugly critters, all the more reason to wash them regularly! Almost all of them happily go into a washing machine or even a dryer. We choose the warmest possible cycle to eliminate a maximum of bacteria and mites, with a hypoallergenic detergent suitable for children and babies. If the toys or soft toys are fragile, they are protected in a washing net, in the machine as in the dryer.

Wash bath toys

They soak in hot water, a real breeding ground for bacteria. The right method? After each bath, the toys are carefully emptied, rinsed with water and dried. Once in a while, we go up a gear by disinfecting them in the dishwasher, in a basin of very hot water, with a wipe… or even in the bottle sterilizer in the microwave, for the little ones .

Use gentle products

Never forget that freshly cleaned children's toys can spin up to their mouths straight away. And even when well rinsed, there is generally tiny residue that can pass into the baby's body… No way to bet on ultra-powerful cleaning products! Natural, hypoallergenic and non-chemical formulas are the most suitable. And even white vinegar or baking soda must be diluted to avoid harmful concentrations for babies! Ditto for essential oils, for the majority too powerful with children under three years.
